We love literacy stations! There are 8 different stations:
1. iPad station
2. Sensory station
3. Handwriting station
4. Emergent reader station
5. Playdoh station
6. Rainbow writing station
7. Dot it station
8. Stamp station.
We are put into groups of 2-3 and do two of these stations a day (We do stations 4x a week, so by the end of the week, they should have gone through all the stations). During the language arts block, we have a mini lesson at the carpet, and then go to our first literacy station for 12 minutes. After that, we have another mini lesson on the carpet, and then rotate to our second station. Lastly, we come back to the carpet to review everything that we learned. Literacy stations are great because it allows the students to work independently at their stations while I work with small guided reading groups.
