We just had our first day of parent-teacher conferences! I absolutely love parent-teacher conferences because it allows me to get to know parents (and students), communicate students' progress and work together with parents to find out ways to best support each student. Thank you parents for all of your continued dedication and support!

We've been learning to "chop" our words to help us spell them. For example, if we chop up the word "dog" we would say "d-o-g." Ms. Ramos hid different pictures from our IT family (kit, lit, hit, bit, sit, pit) and we had to find them around the classroom and write the word. Chopping our words helps us break them up to hear the sounds and spell them.
Once a month, we get to have 'Aina! Here we are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We planted flowers for our butterflies to eat from and live on. We named our caterpillar Buttershy because she was shy when we first met her.

Science: Five Senses: Smell We're going to use our sense of smell to guess what 10 things Ms. Ramos put in the cups. Here's how we displayed our school's SURF (self-discipline, unity, respect and friendliness) values! We used self-discipline when we followed directions and laid perfectly still for the picture. We used unity to help each other make the letters of SURF, respected each others' personal space, and used friendliness and kindness when working together.
