Today, we learned about the importance of self-control in school and how it will help create a happier, safer classroom. We learned that sometimes we need to use self-control when making good choices. For example, even if we REALLY want to do cartwheels in the classroom, we use self-control and choose not to because we know that we could get ourselves and others hurt. I I borrowed a bottle of bubbles and had our students sit crisscross on the carpet. I challenged them to use self-control and RESIST popping the bubbles as I blew them right above their heads. It was VERY difficult for them but they used every bit of energy to resist popping those bubbles (even the ones that floated right in front of their eyes)----and I am SO proud of them! And of course, AFTER they were successful in resisting popping the bubbles, we had a small bubble popping party :)
