On Friday, we wrote Valentines during our literacy block. Ms. Ramos printed out a bunch of Valentines and we were able to write personal Valentines to our friends in the class! We had so much fun writing about why we care about that person. It was so much fun that we didn't even realize we were practicing writing!

Literacy:
Letter of the Week: Uu Sight Word of the Week: for, have Word family: um family (gum, strum, glum, plum). Math: Concept/Skill:
Vocabulary:
Science: States of Matter: Solids, liquids, and gases Solids keep their shape, while liquids change into the shape of their container. In science, we are learning about states of matter. We learned that liquids change into the shape of their container while solids stay the same. We had so much fun making putty and learning that it is both a solid and a liquid! We each were able to help and contribute to the making of our putty! Great teamwork kindergarteners :)
We used shaving cream to practice writing our sight words and CVC words! It was so fun, and Ms. Ramos was happy that it cleaned off all of the marker stains from our tables :)
One of my favorite stories to read to the students is entitled, What If Everybody Did That? Its a book about a boy who breaks little rules but realizes how the world would be if everyone else broke those same rules. What if everybody threw their soda can on the street? What if everybody didn't put their backpacks in their cubbies? What if everybody shouted out during story time without raising their hand? We had a discussion about what the moral of the story was and students conclude that when we want to make a bad choice, we need to stop and think about how it might make someone feel...even if that choice is something that may not seem like a big deal.
Today we participated in our first Chinese New Year parade! We were in unity with the entire school in welcoming the new year :)
